This project is inspired by the "Möwe", an imaginary aircraft which appears in Japanese comic / animated film “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind” created by Hayao MIYAZAKI. This project’s aim is to build an actual aircraft based on the concept of "Möwe" and to fly it, as an experiment and artworks.

We are aiming at creating a similar aircraft that is capable of flying rather than reproduction of the aircraft in the film. Therefore, we have made certain changes in the design.
The “ M-02” and “ M-02J” were created in cooperation with Aircraft OLYMPOS, the only company in Japan that is able to design this type of aircraft.

Born in Saga JAPAN, on 18th April 1966.

After graduating the Faculty of Visual Communication Design, the Kyushu Institute of Design (currently the School of Design, Kyushu University), Hachiya started his career by working for a consulting company followed by establishing his company PetWORKs Co., Ltd..

His works created are often devices with special functions, such as a series of communication tools "Inter Dis-communication Machine" or "PostPet",a jet-powered skateboard "Air Board", or a personal flight system "OpenSky".

Hachiya has been associate professor of Department of Inter Media Art, Tokyo University of the Arts since October 2010.
